Each volume gathers the laws, decrees, arrêtés and contracts of a year in the order they were issued, printed by the state as the Édition officielle of the Département de la Justice.

This is the primary text for any Haitian instrument of the period it covers. The run held here opens at the turn of the eighteen-eighties, breaks for a quarter of a century, and resumes through the occupation, the restored legislature, the war years and the presidencies that followed. One year is printed in two tomes. Where a title page is lost under scanning artefacts the coverage is fixed from the dated instruments inside, and the record says so.
