EMMA Market Studies in Haiti

Each study asks whether the market that normally supplies a good is still working after a disaster, and whether cash would reach people faster than distribution. Goods covered are beans, rice, timber, corrugated galvanized iron, agricultural labor and construction labor, in Port-au-Prince and the Sud-Est.

Lead agencies vary by study, the IRC with the Red Cross movement in Port-au-Prince and ACDI/VOCA with the SEEP Network in the Sud-Est. Haiti was the method's largest early deployment, so the run records how market-based humanitarian response was worked out.
