Bulletin des arrêts du Tribunal de cassation, 1927-1928
- Covers 1927 to 1928.
- A 38-page part-volume for 1927 to 1928, the thinnest in the series and the only one from the 1920s, with appeals and prescription the dominant matters.
- The rulings are printed in full, each headed by the point of law decided.
- The series is the primary record of contract enforcement, execution of judgments and property claims at Haiti's court of final appeal.
The Bulletin des arrêts is the published record of the Tribunal de cassation, Haiti's court of final appeal. Each volume prints the rulings in full, each headed by the point of law decided, which makes the series usable: a reader can see how the court read a code article before reading the reasoning.
This is a fascicle of 38 pages and about 63,000 characters. The library stamp on the scan records it as October and November 1928.
It is the only volume the archive holds between 1913 and 1940, which is the span of the United States occupation and the years immediately after. A twenty-seven-year gap in the published record of the court of final appeal is itself the finding. The gap is in publication. The court sat throughout.
Contract enforcement, the execution of judgments and the settlement of property claims are the constraints every business-climate diagnostic of Haiti names, and this series is the primary record of how the highest court actually decided them.
