This page gathers the statistics on Haiti that the library keeps current, arranged by theme. Each series is published as the institution that produces it states it, with that institution's name, the unit, the frequency and the last closed period, and downloads as CSV and JSON from its own page. National figures come before international estimates wherever IHSI, the BRH or the MEF publish the number.
The producers of official statistics
Four institutions produce most of Haiti's statistics. The Institut Haïtien de Statistique et d'Informatique (IHSI), the national statistics office, publishes the consumer price index, population estimates, the national accounts and the short-term economic activity indicator. The Banque de la République d'Haïti (BRH), the central bank, publishes the reference exchange rate, the monetary aggregates, reserves, the balance of payments and bank balance sheets. The Ministère de l'Économie et des Finances (MEF) publishes the government financial operations table, budget execution and the public payroll. The Cour Supérieure des Comptes et du Contentieux Administratif (CSCCA), the audit court, publishes the reports on execution of the budget laws. The sector ministries complete the picture: the MSPP for health, the MENFP for education, the MARNDR for agriculture.
International series, from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations agencies, ILOSTAT, FAOSTAT and ACLED, are kept as the comparison, because their definitions and base years often differ from the national sources. The source guide explains where to find each publisher and why some government sites do not answer.

Population and demography
The population indicator combines the World Bank's total population, the age and sex breakdown of the United Nations World Population Prospects, and IHSI's estimates. IHSI's annual volumes give population, household counts and densities by department and commune. The mapped population grid gives density at pixel level, to read where people live between two censuses.

Economy, prices and the exchange rate
Gross domestic product is assembled from IHSI's national accounts and from IMF and World Bank data, in gourdes and in dollars, at current and constant prices, with the years ahead marked as projections. The consumer price index is published monthly by IHSI in its bulletin "Le coin de l'IPC", and the BRH comments on it in its inflation note. The exchange rate is the BRH's monthly reference rate, from October 1993. IHSI's short-term economic activity indicator gives a quarterly reading of activity before the annual accounts appear.

Public finance and debt
The MEF's government financial operations table (TOFE) is the monthly series of revenue, expenditure and financing, and runs back to fiscal year 2000-01. The table of revenue collected and expenditure authorized (TEB) gives monthly budget execution by broad category, and its breakdown by institution (TEREDA) allocates it across ministries and agencies. The public headcount and payroll are published monthly by the MEF's Direction Générale du Budget. General government debt as a share of GDP is the series of the IMF's World Economic Outlook. The budget portal presents the budget laws as voted and as amended, year by year.

Foreign trade and the balance of payments
The balance of payments is the BRH's, with the IMF supplying the current account balance in projection. Merchandise exports and imports by product come from the BRH for the national classification and from the United Nations Comtrade database for the Harmonized System nomenclature and the partners. Port activity is estimated each month by PortWatch, an IMF project, from satellite ship positions.

Employment and poverty
The employment series are the International Labour Organization's modelled estimates, and the unemployment rate comes from the three national surveys that measured it: the 2003 census, the 2007 labour force survey and the 2012 ECVH. Apparel-sector employment is taken each month from the bulletins of the Association des Industries d'Haïti, and is the only monthly measure of formal employment available. The poverty rate is the World Bank's, national and by department; the subnational monetary rate comes from its GSAP platform and can also be read on a map.

Security and population displacement
Internally displaced persons are counted by the International Organization for Migration's Displacement Tracking Matrix, by site and by commune. Violent events come from the ACLED database, with their location. Both can be read on a map, and the sector pages on security and on humanitarian response gather the corresponding reports.
Reading and reusing a series
Each indicator page states the unit, the publication frequency, the first and last periods available and the source institution, and offers the full history as CSV and JSON. A provisional figure is marked as such, and a revision by the source replaces the earlier vintage. The license is the producing institution's, and the page repeats it; the open data page describes the formats, the API and the terms of reuse.

Health, education and food
Health statistics come from the MSPP's weekly epidemiological surveillance report and from the EMMUS surveys; school statistics from the MENFP's register of schools, published by department. Acute food insecurity is the IPC classification of the Cadre harmonisé, and the cost of the food basket is recorded each month by the Coordination nationale de la sécurité alimentaire. The sector pages gather the documents and series of one domain on a single page.
