Haiti public data

HaitiDocs publishes Haiti's public data in a form a person can read and a program can load. Each indicator downloads with its full history. Each document carries structured metadata. Each map layer exists as GeoJSON. A single catalog describes all of it. Reaching any of it takes no account and no key. Each item keeps the license of the institution that produced it, stated before any download.

Indicators, documents, map layers and project records

Four sets of public data are served from one place. The indicators are time series on the economy, population, public finance, trade, employment, poverty, health, education, security and displacement, each attached to the institution that publishes it. The documents are the reports, laws, decrees, bulletins and statistical publications of Haitian institutions and international agencies, with their publisher, their date and a link to the original file. The map layers cover population, infrastructure, natural hazards, food security and displacement. The fourth set is the World Bank project records.

Download formats

Each indicator page offers the full history of the series as CSV and JSON. The unit, frequency and source are repeated in the CSV header, so the file stays readable on its own. A map layer downloads as GeoJSON from its page, with the attribute descriptions and the source. A document is read online and, where rights allow, downloads in its original format, most often PDF. The tables extracted from budget documents are published separately, as CSV, on the budget portal.

The API and the machine catalog

The entire indicator catalog fits in one JSON request, giving each series' domain, identifier, description, sources, frequency, first and last period. Each series is then read at a stable address. The collection's counters are published at the same place, timestamped, so nobody has to copy a figure that changes with every publish. Access takes no key and no account, and the only declared quota is reasonable use.

AI assistants and the MCP server

A public Model Context Protocol server at mcp.haitidocs.org returns the same indicators, documents and map layers as structured data, with the source, freshness and citation attached to each answer. It connects to Claude, ChatGPT and VS Code Copilot. The Connect page gives the configuration for each. An assistant that goes through this server cites the originating institution and the period reached with every figure.

Licenses and terms of reuse

A dataset keeps the license of the body that produced it. HaitiDocs cannot change that license. A World Bank or United Nations series is generally reusable under an open license with attribution. A MEF or BRH table is an official publication whose reuse follows its publisher's rules. Some sources, ACLED among them, prohibit commercial use. Each indicator page states its source's license, and each CSV download repeats it at the head of the file. Material written by HaitiDocs, the explanatory text, metadata and classifications, is licensed CC BY 4.0. A document kept as a copy remains its publisher's property. The copy creates no open license.

Data published only inside documents

Part of Haiti's public data exists only inside a document: a table printed in a budget execution report, a series in the annex of an annual report, a headcount in a circular. Those figures are reachable through the document that holds them. The library publishes a series from them only after extracting and checking the table, as it did for the TOFE, the TEB and the MEF payroll statements. A figure read from a document carries a weaker guarantee than a series published by its source in tabular form. Each series page says where it comes from.

Collection and corrections

The Haitian institutions' sites are swept on a schedule. A correction to a figure is passed to the source that published it, and the library follows the source's revision. A document the library does not hold can be proposed through the contact form.
