Arrêté authorising the Société de Pêche Industrielle d'Haïti (SPIDHA) and approving its statutes
- SPIDHA is authorised with a share capital of 1,250,000 gourdes, constituted on 21 November 1978.
- The constitutive act and statutes are printed with the arrêté.
- It rests on the Commercial Code, the 1960 special regime for sociétés anonymes and the 1963 law on mixed companies.
- Industrial fishing remains a small share of Haitian catch, which is dominated by artisanal boats.
The arrêté of Jean-Claude Duvalier authorising the société anonyme named Société de Pêche Industrielle d'Haïti, S.A. (SPIDHA), with a share capital of 1,250,000 gourdes, constituted on 21 November 1978, and approving its constitutive act and statutes, which are printed with it.
The preamble cites articles 30 and following of the Commercial Code, the decree of 28 August 1960 organising a special regime in favour of sociétés anonymes, and the law of 16 September 1963 on mixed sociétés anonymes.
Industrial fishing has been a repeated policy ambition in Haiti and a small share of actual catch, which is dominated by artisanal fishing from open boats. A company authorisation printed in the journal officiel with its statutes gives the capital structure, the object clause and the founders, which is the documentary base for asking what became of the venture. The corpus holds the 1978 fishing rights decree, the 1965 fishery trade instrument and the FIDA fisheries value-chain study for the Nippes, against which this can be read.
