Stewardship Plan for the National Parks and Natural Areas of Haiti

The stewardship plan for Haiti's national parks and natural areas, 355 pages prepared for USAID/Haiti by the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida under contract 521-0191-A-00-7107. It surveys the protected areas, the endemic species they hold and what would be required to manage them, at a moment when Pic Macaya and La Visite were the focus of the conservation effort. The volume is dedicated to Michel Aubry, who died pursuing the Pic Macaya national park. Three decades on it is still the fullest single survey of Haitian protected areas, which makes it the baseline against which subsequent forest loss and the protected-area designations of 2014 to 2017, several of which are in this batch, are read.
