Synoptic Table of Normative Orders Published in Le Moniteur since March 2017
- Tabulates the normative orders published in Le Moniteur from March 2017, giving each one's title, date of publication and reference.
- A finding aid rather than an analysis: it is what makes a specific order locatable in the gazette without reading every issue.
- Read with the register of signed acts, it distinguishes an order that was signed from one that reached publication.
What distinguishes this table from a simple index is its third column. For each normative order it records not only the title and the date of publication in the official journal but the order's purpose, set out in the administration's own words. The first entry illustrates the form: the order creating the National Commission for Youth Innovation and Professional Insertion, published 21 July 2017, whose stated purposes are to work with public and private institutions to put in place arrangements favoring the development of young people and their insertion into social life and the world of work, and to submit proposals to the President of the Republic. A short document of this kind is disproportionately useful for reading a government's regulatory activity, because it distinguishes normative orders - those that create rules or bodies - from the far more numerous individual acts of appointment that fill the gazette.
