Caribbean Coast Tourism Development Projects

The Ministry of Tourism's portfolio of coastal tourism development projects, mapped against the national road network from Port-de-Paix and Cap-Haïtien round through Saint-Marc, Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Côtes-de-Fer, Île-à-Vache, Les Cayes and Jérémie.

It carries the government's short-term action plan for tourism development: support the private sector to improve existing hospitality and conventions facilities, create hospitality training centres for each tourism development region, establish a Destination Management Organization for each region, partner with tour operators, airlines and travel agents to promote the destination, and revise the legislative framework and work on a decree for a tourist free trade zone.

It also states the investment terms the government was offering: total exoneration from income taxes for a period not exceeding fifteen consecutive years, followed by gradual taxation over five years; exoneration from local taxes except the fixed professional tax for up to fifteen years; accelerated depreciation; fiscal and duty exoneration on imported equipment and materials; and exemption from licensing for foreign expatriate employees.
