The Return of the Creole Pig

This deck is small, but it records a recurring Haitian agricultural policy theme inside the post-Matthew coordination discussion. The Creole pig is presented through production-system characteristics: mixed cropping and livestock, alternating access to mangoes, kitchen waste and breadfruit, and periodic scarcity of human food. Its value is the fit between animal traits and poor rural conditions: rusticity, low body development and low consumption. The implicit argument is that recovery livestock should be adapted to the household systems that will keep it alive.
