Key Findings
- ISPAN launched the bulletin on 1 June 2009 to circulate public information on historic sites and monuments despite severe budget, staffing and logistics constraints.
- The issue says ISPAN had identified more than one thousand cultural-value immovable properties across Haiti and obtained official national heritage classification in 1994 for thirty-three historic monuments and the historic center of Cap-Haitien.
- An ISPAN delegation visited Jeremie from 13 to 16 May 2009 to make an initial assessment of cultural-value buildings in the city's historic center.
- The bulletin reports that about G 1,800,000 from ISPAN's investment budget financed emergency stabilization works on the monumental stairway of Sans-Souci Palace.
- A one-year AECID-financed project of 200,000 euros was assigned to inventory heritage in the Sud-Est, support Jacmel's historic center, and restore the Old Prison of Jacmel as a heritage interpretation center.
