Total Population, Population Aged 18 and Over, Households and Densities Estimated for 2015
- The publication gives 2015 estimates of total population, population aged 18 and over, households, area, and density for Haiti's administrative units.
- IHSI states that the estimates are based mainly on projections prepared with CELADE and notes that the fifth general population and housing census had not yet been completed.
- The national 2015 population is estimated at 10,911,819 people, with 5,408,465 males, 5,503,354 females, and 6,296,351 people aged 18 and over.
- The residence breakdown estimates 5,247,704 people in cities, 419,982 in urban quarters, and 5,244,133 in rural sections.
- The Ouest department is estimated at 4,029,705 people, while Nippes is estimated at 342,525 people.
- The household and density table estimates 2,360,771 households over 27,065.07 km2, giving a national density of 403 people per km2.
Published by the Institut Haïtien de Statistique et d'Informatique in March 2015, this volume presents the year's estimates of total and adult population, household numbers and demographic densities for decision-makers, researchers and the general public, based principally on the institute's population projections. It is the 2015 edition of the same annual series as the 2012 volume also held here, and the two together allow the intercensal trajectory to be read at sub-national level - which matters because Haiti's last full census was in 2003, making these projections the operative population figures for the whole period.
