- IHSI states that the estimates are based partly on population projections prepared with CELADE and use 2003 census results and later population estimates as source data.

- The residence breakdown estimates 4,774,714 people in cities, 380,226 in urban quarters, and 5,258,271 in rural sections.
- The Ouest department is estimated at 3,845,570 people, while Nippes is estimated at 326,874 people.

Published by the Institut Haïtien de Statistique et d'Informatique in January 2012, this volume gives the year's estimates of total population and population aged 18 and over, together with household numbers and demographic densities, based in part on the institute's population projections. IHSI describes it as a routine annual delivery to statistical users, and its practical importance is as the denominator: it is the population figure against which service coverage, per-capita output and needs assessments are calculated, disaggregated below the national level. The population aged 18 and over is broken out because it is the electorate. The corpus previously held no volume of this series.
