Full Description

The Bulletin des arrêts is the published record of the Tribunal de cassation, Haiti's court of final appeal. Each volume prints the rulings in full, each headed by the point of law decided, which makes the series usable: a reader can see how the court read a code article before reading the reasoning.

The title page states the exercice 1944-1945 and the dated audiences run 1943 to 1945 with 1944 dominant. At 632 pages and about 2 million characters it is the largest volume in the series.

Seizure leads the substantive profile and property follows. A year in which execution against property is the commonest matter before the final court is a year of widespread default, and the volume is the primary record of how those claims were resolved as the war economy ended.

Contract enforcement, the execution of judgments and the settlement of property claims are the constraints every business-climate diagnostic of Haiti names, and this series is the primary record of how the highest court actually decided them.
