Participatory Diagnosis of the Haut Maribaroux Communal Section, Ouanaminthe
- The participatory diagnosis was designed to support a local development plan for Haut Maribaroux.
- Community delegates and local leaders identified constraints, problems, opportunities and assets across agriculture, education, health, religion and other sectors.
- Workshops were organized in three blocks: Gaiac, Dilaire and Talas.
- The process used MARP participatory tools, including problem trees and objective trees, and strengthened local organizational capacity.
- Haut Maribaroux had low school water availability, limited playgrounds and a teaching staff dominated by men.
- Agriculture, charcoal, livestock, commerce, credit, water access and environmental degradation were treated as linked development issues.
This participatory diagnosis of the Haut Maribaroux communal section, in the commune of Ouanaminthe in the Nord-Est, is credited to the community of Haut Maribaroux itself, with technical support from Village Planète, and dated July 2007. Its authorship is the point of interest: most territorial diagnoses in this collection were commissioned from consultants, whereas this one names the community as the author and the NGO only as technical support. It is the diagnostic that sits behind the Haut Maribaroux development plan of the following month, and it resolves the administrative question those documents otherwise leave open, since the covers of the related Maribaroux material name the section but not its parent commune.
