Environmental and Social Impact Identification and Mitigation Sheet: Marc Fontaine Drinking-Water Network (commune of Chansolme, Nord-Ouest), August 2018
- Works: repair of the intake and reinforcement of the settling basin, sealing of reservoir leaks, and a chlorination chamber with the chlorination system put into operation.
- Small repair works; no network extension and no involuntary resettlement.
- World Bank non-objection given March 29, 2019.
- Prepared under the EPARD rural water and sanitation program, financed by the World Bank.
- Screened under OP 4.01 and Haiti's 2005 framework environmental decree.
The sheet identifies the environmental and social impacts of works on the Marc Fontaine rural drinking-water system (SAEP) in the Nord-Ouest and proposes mitigation measures, as the World Bank's operational policy on environmental assessment (OP 4.01) and Haiti's 2005 framework environmental decree require. It sits in DINEPA's EPARD safeguards set, one sheet for each rural system in the program.
The works are repair of the intake and reinforcement of the settling basin, sealing of reservoir leaks, and a chlorination chamber with the chlorination system put into operation. The works are small rehabilitation and repair jobs, and DINEPA does not intend to extend the network to unserved areas. No involuntary resettlement is involved, and no separate mitigation budget is set. The World Bank specialists gave their non-objection on March 29, 2019.
