The sheet identifies the environmental and social impacts of works on the Basse-Terre rural drinking-water system (SAEP) in the Nord-Ouest and proposes mitigation measures, as the World Bank's operational policy on environmental assessment (OP 4.01) and Haiti's 2005 framework environmental decree require. It sits in DINEPA's EPARD safeguards set, one sheet for each rural system in the program.
The works are rebuilding the intake, a new 30 m3 reservoir on the old reservoir's site, 1,500 m of 63 mm HDPE pipe, tests and repairs on old pipes, 2-inch valves, rehabilitation of three access kiosks, a chlorination room and an HK-24 hypochlorinator. The old network was built in the 1990s and stopped working after Hurricane Matthew on October 5, 2016. The February 8, 2018 visit rated impacts medium to low, mostly temporary during works. This is the revised version of March 2019. The World Bank specialists gave their non-objection on April 9, 2019.
