Environmental and Social Impact Identification and Mitigation Sheet: Andro Drinking-Water Network (commune of Chansolme, Nord-Ouest), August 2018
- Works: rehabilitation of the Beauvoir intake, a 150 m3 reservoir, seven kiosks (one at Dlo Sale, two at Deux Garçons, four at Andro), private connections, supply pipes and a break-pressure tank.
- Four land donations, each under 10 percent of the owner's holding.
- World Bank non-objection given October 24, 2018.
- Prepared under the EPARD rural water and sanitation program, financed by the World Bank.
- Screened under OP 4.01 and Haiti's 2005 framework environmental decree.
The sheet identifies the environmental and social impacts of works on the Andro rural drinking-water system (SAEP) in the Nord-Ouest and proposes mitigation measures, as the World Bank's operational policy on environmental assessment (OP 4.01) and Haiti's 2005 framework environmental decree require. It sits in DINEPA's EPARD safeguards set, one sheet for each rural system in the program.
The works are rehabilitation of the Beauvoir intake, a 150 m3 reservoir, seven kiosks (one at Dlo Sale, two at Deux Garçons, four at Andro), private connections, supply pipes and a break-pressure tank. Four beneficiaries donated land, each under 10 percent of their holding. The main negative impact is the loss of vegetation cover during works. The assessment visit ran April 28 to May 1, 2018, and rated severity medium to high. The environmental budget is US$2,000. The World Bank specialists gave their non-objection on October 24, 2018.
