Grand Sud Regional Coordination Table, May 2016: Collected Presentations
- The complete 228-page proceedings of the Grand Sud Table Verte of 26 May 2016, at Port-Salut.
- Presentations are grouped in series, opening with the biosphere reserve.
- Four papers from the session are held individually in this collection; the compendium preserves the whole meeting.
- Held five months before Hurricane Matthew destroyed much of the region it covers.
The Table Verte was the CIAT's regional coordination mechanism, bringing government bodies, donors and operators around one table for a region, and this is the complete record of the Grand Sud session of 26 May 2016. At 228 pages it is a compendium rather than a paper: the presentations are collected in series, beginning with the biosphere reserve, and running through the environmental and territorial agenda of the southern peninsula. Four papers from this same session are held individually in this collection because they stand on their own, on waste and urbanization, the national solid waste policy, the failure of collection in Les Cayes, and recycling as employment. The compendium's value is as the whole meeting rather than the highlights: it shows what a Haitian regional coordination table actually discussed, in what order, and with whom, five months before Hurricane Matthew destroyed much of the region it covers.
