This edition of WFP's Information Booklet covers developments to November 2024. The latest IPC analysis, for September 2024 to February 2025, found 5.4 million people, half the population, acutely food insecure (IPC Phase 3+), up from 4.9 million previously and the worst figures since the 2010 earthquake. Of these, 2 million are in Emergency (IPC Phase 4), a 42 percent increase since August 2023, with 15 regions now classified IPC 4 compared with five a year earlier, and for the first time since September 2022, 6,000 people in IDP sites face Catastrophe (IPC Phase 5), only the second such classification recorded in the region.
More than 700,000 people were internally displaced as of September 2024, over triple the figure a year earlier, with 173,000 in Port-au-Prince, 63 percent of them in sites. Despite the formation of a new government and the June 2024 arrival of the first troops of the non-UN multinational security support mission, the security situation remains volatile in the aftermath of the March-June crisis, during which armed groups attacked hospitals and schools and blockaded the capital's airport, seaport and roadways. As of November 2024, WFP had supported 1.55 million people across its programs with 2.2 million hot meals, USD 36.7 million in cash-based transfers and 9,121 mt of food, and purchased USD 11.3 million of food from smallholder farmers.
Other figures reported include 713,685 households registered in SIMAST (29 percent of the population); over 134,000 people reached with ASPIRE cash transfers, with digital delivery reaching 73 percent by September 2024; 477,678 schoolchildren fed in the 2023-2024 school year, of whom 257,833 received home-grown, locally sourced meals; 96,000 people supported through resilience activities; 9,597 households (47,985 people) covered by micro-insurance, with claims payouts of over USD 375,000 representing a 49 percent claims ratio; and malnutrition still stagnant at 7.2 percent nationally, with an emergency Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme launched in Port-au-Prince displacement sites. The office's 2024 goal is 2.35 million people, and it needs USD 186.8 million to operate over the next 12 months, to October 2025.
