The Haiti Fiscal and Social Resilience Development Policy Financing project was designed to support the government's efforts to strengthen fiscal management and enhance the efficiency of social spending, with the goal of better protecting poor and vulnerable households. The project was prepared during a period of violent social unrest resulting from the attempted elimination of fuel price subsidies. The World Bank and the European Union provided financing to address the social pressures and economic issues arising from the crisis. The project focused on installing an automated system for customs data, publishing tax expenditures, consolidating bank accounts into a single treasury account, consolidating social program registries, enacting a law establishing the National Education Fund, and submitting draft legislation for a National Solidarity Fund for the Integration of People with Disabilities.
