S/2011/301 United Nations Security Council Distr.: General 13 May 2011 English Original: French Letter dated 12 May 2011 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council I have the honour to refer to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), established pursuant to resolution 1542 (2004) of 30 April 2004 and recently extended pursuant to resolution 1944 (2010) of 14 October 2010. Following the customary consultations, it is my intention to appoint Mr. Mariano Fernández (Chile) as my Special Representative and Head of MINUSTAH. He will replace Mr. Edmond Mulet (Guatemala), who will complete his assignment on 31 May 2011. I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Mr. Mulet for his dedication and effective leadership of MINUSTAH.
