Haiti Biogas Programme Strategy 2010-2012
- The biogas program strategy covers 2010-2012 and was developed with United Nations Environment Programme support.
- It was prepared by Haiti's technical biogas working group, developed in Q3 2010 with a last revision in Q4 2010.
- Its two aims are to formalize the working group's activities and to inform other actors and potential investors of the government-approved strategy.
- It links the DINEPA's sanitation mandate to renewable-energy production.
This document sets out the strategy for Haiti's biogas program covering 2010-2012, prepared by the technical biogas working group (Groupe de Travail Technique Biogaz) with support from the United Nations Environment Programme, developed in the third quarter of 2010 with a last revision in the fourth quarter of 2010. The strategy states two purposes: to formalize and orient the activities of the biogas technical working group in Haiti, and to inform other actors and potential investors in the biogas field of the strategy approved by the government and the intended scope of activities. Sitting within the DINEPA's drinking-water and sanitation mandate, it links sanitation and waste management to renewable-energy production. It is a short, niche historical reference (14 pages) for the early institutional framing of biogas in Haiti rather than a core water-supply strategy.
