Fighting the child trafficking channeled through Haitian orphanages

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

The International Rescue Committees (IRC) aims to prevent Haitian children from entering situations where they are at risk of being trafficked while providing services for children currently living in these circumstances. The project will contribute to counter-trafficking actions and improve state capacity to support TIP victims. In addition, the IRC will advocate for the closure of RCCs suspected of trafficking and abuse and will closely monitor these centers. At the community level, the IRC, in collaboration with local partner Zanmi Timoun (ZT), will prevent trafficking in restavek situations, improve direct services for victims and at-risk children, enhance data collection, and raise awareness of the dangers of child trafficking in Haiti.
