Strengthening Capacities in Environmental Management Related to Competitiveness

Objective
The objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to support the Bank in identifying new project opportunities and developing instruments and guidelines in the following areas: (1) Compliance with environmental requirements of Free Trade Agreements; (2) mainstreaming environment in investment operations for competitiveness; (3) Country Environmental Analysis (CEA) as an instrument to mainstream the environment in Bank Country Strategies; and (4) evaluation of countries' own environmental safeguarding systems to identify and manage environmental and social impacts. The focus will be on countries of the Region with the weakest environmental management systems, including Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, Ecuador, Suriname, Bolivia and Paraguay.
