Promote the coordination and preparedness of Haitian communities

Published title: Promote the Coordination and Preparedness of Haitian Communities Through a Build Back Safer Approach and Disaster Risk Reduction

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

Building upon results achieved in previous interventions and lessons learned, IOM aims to maintain coordination and effective linkages with partners implementing shelter support in affected communities in Haiti. IOM's activities are strengthening the disaster preparedness and response capacities of the local authorities, ultimately reducing the vulnerability of the affected population. The action includes 6 core areas of work: 1) strengthening shelter/non-food items distribution coordination of IOM and partners; 2) capacity building of local authorities through trainings; 3) structural assessments of damaged infrastructure; 4) minor repairs of collective shelters; 5) warehouse management and maintenance for disaster response; and 6) supporting and rolling out crisis response (if applicable during the project's implementation period).
