Addressing humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs)

Published title: Addressing Humanitarian Needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Port-au-Prince and Providing Emergency Assistance to People Affected by the Earthquake

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

Since 1 June 2021, an upsurge in inter-gang clashes has caused the displacement of an estimated 19,000 civilians in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince. Haiti and is having a direct and indirect impact on the whole population of those areas. This crisis is taking place against a backdrop of recent surge in COVID-19 cases and a political crisis with the recent assassination of the president. This concerning insecurity situation is limiting capacities for monitoring and addressing support requests. Furthermore, the 7.2-magnitutude earthquake that hit south-western Haiti on 14 August has exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation. Through this initiative, IOM aims at furthering its efforts in supporting the Government of Haiti to respond to the crisis, firstly, in providing life-saving

assistance to most vulnerable people affected by the 14 August earthquake through shelter, non-food item, camp coordination and camp management activities, more specifically by the provision of essential life-saving services delivery in the target locations, through identification, registration and basic need assessments activities.
