Description
The project aims at attacking the vulnerability of the communities to natural disasters and increasing their resilience, through work with right-holders and local and national level authorities. A central component of the project is the strengthening of th e local civil society organisations and CBOs so that they would be able to act as active subjects in the development of their society and be able to impact policies and hold authorities accountable. Objectives and activities include:1. Community members ar e better prepared to face emergencies commonly expected in Haiti, and able to respond to and recover from them effectively. This will be achieved for example though sensitisation and trainings.2. Accompany communities in the development of socio-economical livelihoods via initiatives such

as environmental-friendly agricultural practices, sensitisation in environmental management, entrepreneurship training and microcredits.3. Communities and local organisations acknowledge their rights and are empowered to a dvocate and fight for them, participate in decision making processes to build a strong civil society.4. LWF/DWS Haiti improves constantly the quality of its work, increases visibility and understanding of its programme.Rights-holders /beneficiaries: The es timated number of beneficiaries is 35 263 people in Grand Anse, Les Palmes, and Forêt des Pins.Implementing partner: Lutheran World Federation
