Description
This is a component of the Local Development - Nord-Est project. Its aim is to decrease the vulnerability of communes in the Nord-Est department to climate change. It includes building family cisterns to offset periods of drought; watershed management, reforestation activities, and the introduction of soil conservation techniques to reduce erosion and the risks of flooding; developing small irrigation areas; planting mangroves; and building the capacity of local authorities on environmental issues. All of these activities stem from development plans prepared as part of the main project component, thus ensuring local ownership.
