Citizen Survey: Haitians' Perceptions of the Sustainable Development Goals and of Current Challenges
- Finds only 19 percent of the population aged 18 and over aware that the Sustainable Development Goals exist.
- Awareness is lower in rural areas at 16.5 percent than urban at 20.7 percent, and rises with education to 32 percent among those with university study.
- Establishes a relationship between educational level and SDG awareness, which is the practical finding for any communication strategy built on the goals.
- Records that remittances to beneficiaries without a US dollar bank account are paid out in gourdes, a detail that bears on how transfer value reaches households.
- Carried out by BRIDES in Port-au-Prince in May 2023 to inform a national SDG financing strategy.
Public opinion data on Haiti is scarce and rarely published in full, which is the main reason to hold this: 120 pages of tabulated survey results with the questionnaire and method set out. It was produced under the same Integrated National Financing Framework joint program as the 2023 development finance assessment, and is best read as the demand-side input to that work.
