Socio-Economic Diagnosis of the Maribaroux Plain
- Distributes cultivated plots by crop type both for the department and for the Maribaroux plain itself, so the plain can be read against its department rather than in isolation.
- Records where farmers say their seed comes from, expressed as a share, which is the constraint that determines what a season can produce.
- Compares soil preparation costs in the Bas Maribaroux in gourdes per hectare, giving the cost side of the same production question.
- A socio-economic diagnosis of a specific plain rather than a national survey, so the figures are local and the sampling is stated.
Prepared by R. Saint-Dic in July 2011, this diagnosis covers the Maribaroux plain in the Nord-Est department. It is one of four documents in this collection addressing that plain and the Haut Maribaroux communal section within it - the others being the 2007 participatory diagnosis, the 2007 development plan and the 2012 pedological study for the plain's master development scheme - which together make Maribaroux one of the better-documented small agricultural areas in the corpus. Saint-Dic also authored the Aquin-Baconnois diagnosis of 2017 and the Belladère and Lascahobas agro-economic diagnoses of 2020, so his work spans a decade of commune-level assessment in this batch.
