Two communes of the Centre department fall to armed gangs: the transitional authorities are making the security crisis worse
- The coordinated attack of 30 to 31 March 2025 was mounted by the 400 Mawozo and the Talibans de Canaan.
- Their leaders are named as Wilson Joseph, known as Lanmò san Jou, and Jeff Larose, known as Jeff Gwo Lwa.
- Mirebalais and Saut-d'Eau, two communes of the Centre department, fell to the armed groups.
- The report closes on security spending made in complete opacity by five state bodies.
On the night of 30 to 31 March 2025 the 400 Mawozo and the Talibans de Canaan, led respectively by Wilson Joseph, known as Lanmò san Jou, and Jeff Larose, known as Jeff Gwo Lwa, carried out a coordinated armed attack on Mirebalais. Two important communes of the Centre department, Mirebalais and Saut-d'Eau, fell into the hands of the armed groups. The network sets out how it happened and what it means for a department that had until then been outside the worst of the crisis, and it closes on money: on the sums spent in complete opacity by the transitional presidential council, the prime minister's office, the interior ministry, the defence ministry and the justice and public security ministry.
