Killings, rapes, looting and arson at Carrefour and Gressier under the indifferent gaze of the new authorities
- The people killed are named one by one with the circumstances of each death.
- Women and girls subjected to sexual violence are counted in their own section.
- Houses were looted, burned or squatted while their owners were displaced, and vehicles and goods were stolen.
- The network asks for financial and psychological assistance and for conditions that would let displaced families return.
The report sets the context and the events that preceded, then gives the toll of acts against life and property in four sections: the people killed, each named with the circumstances, among them a sixty-five-year-old father of four killed at his home in Mariani in November 2023; the women and girls subjected to sexual violence; the wounded; and the houses looted, burned or squatted alongside the vehicles and goods stolen. It then describes the state of Carrefour and Gressier at the time of writing. Its recommendations are for financial and psychological assistance to the victims, for work towards the minimum conditions of peace and security that would let displaced families go home, and for an end to the waste of the state's scarce resources.
