- The report is built from the survivors' own accounts, each dated and placed.
- The network asks for medical and psychosocial assistance to victims and their families, and for prosecutions.
At dawn on 7 July 2022 a new war broke out at Cité Soleil between armed groups belonging to two rival coalitions, the G-9 an Fanmi e Alye and G-Pèp, led respectively by Jimmy Chérizier, known as Barbecue, and Gabriel Jean Pierre, known as Ti Gabriel or Gabo. In the massacre that followed, many abuses were committed, among them repeated collective rapes of women and girls carried out with great violence. This report is about the survivors of those assaults.
Between 7 and 17 July the network recorded fifty-two cases and spoke to the victims, and the body of the document is their accounts, each dated and set in a named place: a drinks seller seized at the Carrefour de la Mort by hooded armed men, dragged away, robbed and raped one after another; a forty-seven-year-old woman taken at home with her children. The network's judgement is that in leaving these attacks unanswered the state authorities are demonstrating their contempt for the lives of the population, and it asks them for medical and psychosocial assistance to the victims and their families, and for the prosecution and punishment of everyone involved in the rapes.
