MSPP Statistical Report 2014
- Records family planning use varying more than threefold between departments, from 12.26 percent in the Nord-Ouest to 40.71 percent in the Nippes, against 15.43 percent in the Ouest, the most populous department.
- Counts 2,853,071 women aged 15 to 49 expected nationally with the method mix given user by user, including 235,664 on injectables, 212,347 on condoms, 51,775 on pills, 25,026 on implants and 780 on intrauterine devices, so the programme's dependence on two methods is visible.
- Records a blood supply response rate of only 55 percent against demand, which is a transfusion capacity finding rather than a service statistic.
- Reports 101,001 total hospital admissions, with 95 percent of discharged patients leaving alive and 5 percent having died, more than half of those after a stay exceeding 48 hours.
- Breaks down injury causes by department, with work accidents most frequent in the Grand'Anse (10.27 percent) and domestic accidents in the Nord-Est (16.34 percent) and Nord-Ouest (21.03 percent).
- Records one national indicator distribution across 6,276,937 cases, with departmental shares of 27.70, 9.44, 26.29, 1.64 and 34.92 percent, so the report gives structure rather than only totals.
Published by the Ministère de la Santé Publique et de la Population in May 2015, this is the ministry's statistical report covering 2014. Ministry statistical yearbooks are the administrative counterpart to survey-based sources such as EMMUS: they report what the health system itself recorded rather than what a household survey found, which makes the two necessary to read together. The corpus previously held no MSPP statistical report, and this volume arrives alongside the ministry's national health facility list and its health map for the Ouest department, all three from the same 2013-2015 period.
