Module for the Accelerated Initial Training of Primary Teachers: Didactics of Social Sciences
- Covers three disciplines: geography, history and citizenship education.
- Each discipline gets concepts and tools, a research exercise, three teaching situations, class activities, progressions and programming.
- The introduction says fundamental school must prepare pupils, some of whom will have only partial schooling, for critical, active and responsible citizenship.
- Teaching is to be anchored in the pupils' own reality, from local to international.
- Prepared under the Education for All project 2008 to 2014 and revised in 2014 for CIEP and FONHEP.
This 127-page module trains future fundamental school teachers to teach the social sciences. It was prepared under the Education for All project (2008 to 2014) by a team of ten authors, coordinated by Norbert Stimphil and others, supervised by the DFP, and reviewed in 2014 for CIEP and FONHEP. Part I sets the aims of social science teaching and asks what the social sciences are. Part II sets a didactic frame with professional competencies. Part III gives teaching approaches in turn for geography, history and citizenship education, each with concepts, a research exercise, three teaching situations, class activities, progressions and programming. Part IV covers evaluation.
