Key Findings
Full Description

Detailed program by objectives for the five core subjects taught in year 3 of the école fondamentale: Creole, French, mathematics, social sciences and experimental sciences. The foreword states that it replaces every earlier program in use in the country's schools. It opens with the aims of Haitian education (free schooling, state guarantee of education, freedom of teaching, education oriented toward development) and targets such as universal schooling by 2004. A study plan sets weekly and annual hours per subject over a 30-week school year. Each subject section opens with a foreword and lists themes, general objectives, specific objectives, content and suggested classroom activities; Creole is presented as the child's mother tongue and the language of instruction for listening, speaking, reading and writing. Programs for arts, technology and productive activities, and physical education were to follow separately.
