National School Statistics Yearbook
- Counts 17,295 institutions offering fundamental education across the ten school departments in 2024-2025, of which only 15 percent are public.
- Counts 82,180 teachers in the first two cycles of fundamental education, of whom 47.8 percent are women.
- Shows the public-private split in staffing as starkly as in schools, with 4,205 public teachers against 30,554 non-public in one count totalling 34,759, of whom 32,903 women.
- Records fundamental schools as 2,475 public against 14,820 non-public, so a public school system exists inside a mainly private one rather than alongside it.
- Documents departmental concentration, with 12,868 teachers in the Ouest against 708 in the Nord-Est and 1,367 in the Grand'Anse, which is the spread any national average conceals.
- Reports school condition against infrastructure type in categories of good, passable and bad, with non-response above 55 percent in several departments and 45 percent overall on one measure, which is a limit on the census rather than a description of the stock.
- Gives pupil numbers by single year of age and by sex, which is what allows over-age enrolment to be measured directly.
MENFP's national school statistics yearbook for 2024-2025, produced by the Directorate of Planning and External Cooperation. It is the authoritative count of Haitian schooling for the year, and its central figure sets the frame for every education debate in the country: the 2024-2025 school census enumerated 17,295 institutions offering fundamental education across the ten school departments, of which only 15 percent belong to the public sector.
The teaching workforce is counted at 82,180 teachers in the first two cycles, of whom 47.8 percent are women. Broken down by sector, the yearbook records 34,759 teachers in one count, 4,205 public against 30,554 non-public, with women at 32,903 of the total, so the private sector employs the great majority of teachers and the profession is close to gender parity overall while varying sharply by department, from 12,868 teachers in the Ouest to 708 in the Nord-Est.
The yearbook also grades what schools physically have. Fundamental schools are split 2,475 public against 14,820 non-public and reported against infrastructure types, with condition assessments distributed across good, passable and bad, and a large non-response share, in some departments above 55 percent, which is itself a finding about the census rather than about the schools. Pupil numbers are given by single year of age and sex, which is what allows over-age enrolment to be measured rather than inferred.
