Decree Regulating the Operation of Banks and Banking Activity in Haiti
Summary: The decree regulating banking in Haiti: it defines banking activity, sets the conditions for authorization and the minimum capital required, assigns supervision to the Banque de la République d'Haïti, and governs reserves, lending limits and banking secrecy.
Full Description
This decree governed Haitian banking for three decades until the law of 14 May 2012 on banks and other financial institutions, and instruments from the period continue to cite it. It was signed on 14 November 1980 and published in Le Moniteur no. 82 of 17 November 1980. Until now the corpus held its text only inside the 2012 banking law that replaced it.
