The research documents remarkable urban growth, with built-up areas increasing by 97.3% over the study period at an average annual rate of 7.5%. The town experienced acceleration in the second period (2014-2020), with expansion speed increasing by 83.6% from 0.24 km² to 0.43 km² annually. By 2015, Ouanaminthe had become predominantly urban with 66.8% of its 106,129 inhabitants living in the 3.14 km² urban area at a density of 22,581 inhabitants/km².
