Haiti Humanitarian Appeal 2010 (Revised)
Summary: The revised 2010 consolidated humanitarian appeal for Haiti, at US$1.4 billion for the year, with the government's official earthquake toll.
Key Findings
- Revised financial requirements for the year were assessed at US$1.4 billion, including the original six-month Flash Appeal.
- The Government's estimate at the time was some 217,300 dead and 300,600 wounded, figures that differ from later cited tolls.
- Three million people were affected, with 1.9 million estimated to have lost their homes and over 511,000 having left the affected cities.
- Around 1,000 humanitarian organizations were operating in the country, which is the coordination problem the appeal addresses.
Full Description
The revised consolidated humanitarian appeal for Haiti covering 2010, superseding and incorporating the original six-month Flash Appeal issued after the January earthquake. It sets out cluster requirements and strategy for around 1,000 humanitarian organizations then operating in the country, and carries the Government's official casualty and damage estimates. Note the distinction from a Flash Appeal, which the corpus treats as transient: this is the revised full-year appeal and the reference document for the 2010 response architecture.
