The Direction Départementale Sanitaire de la Grand'Anse runs a network of 56 health facilities that send a notification form each week to the departmental epidemiology, laboratory and research service. This issue covers epidemiological week 40 of 2020, 27 September to 03 October 2020. The network covers a projected population of 527,039. It opens with two performance indicators. Completeness, the share of expected site reports received, was 98% for the department this week, broken down by commune and mapped. Promptness classes each site as on time, late or silent against a Tuesday deadline and reached 89%. The epidemiological section splits the week's reported events into three groups: 197 immediately notifiable cases, 1,123 weekly notifiable cases and 1,294 new cases seen with other conditions, 2,614 events in all. Later slides carry the five-week distribution for each notifiable condition by week, and the immediately notifiable list runs from confirmed malaria and suspected cholera through maternal death, probable diphtheria, suspected meningitis and acute flaccid paralysis. Every issue prints a rolling five-week table that revises earlier weeks as late returns arrive, so a series built across issues has to pick a vintage and say which.
