As of December 2025, Haiti faces a severe displacement crisis with 1,450,254 internally displaced persons (IDPs), representing 12% of the national population. This marks a 3% increase since September 2025 and a 39% rise over the year 2025, primarily due to armed violence and generalized insecurity, which accounts for 99% of displacements. The report highlights that 85% of IDPs are hosted by families or outside formal sites, while 15% live in 229 spontaneous sites across the country. Demographically, 54% of IDPs are female and 52% are children. While the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince (MAPAP) hosts 20% of IDPs, the provinces host 80%, with significant increases observed in Centre (+140%), Great North (+98%), and Artibonite (+77%) during 2025 due to deteriorating security. The Artibonite department recorded the largest increase between September and December 2025, rising by 23%.
