PRESS RELEASE - SECURITY INCIDENT DURING ROUTINE PATROL IN PORT-AU-PRINCE PORT-AU-PRINCE, 22 July 2026 — The Gang Suppression Force (GSF) informs that one of its units was involved in a hostile encounter with armed gang elements today, 22 July 2026, while conducting a routine security patrol in the commune of Tabarre, part of the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, West Department. According to initial reports, the patrol was engaged by armed elements near an illegal checkpoint in territory controlled by the Kraze Baryè gang, resulting in an exchange of fire. The patrol responded in accordance with its Rules of Engagement. Three (3) armed elements were killed during the incident. No civilians were injured. The safety and security of the Haitian population remains the GSF's foremost priority.
