Asset-declaration day at the CEP with the anti-corruption unit

A CEP press note reporting that on Friday 3 July 2026 the Council held, jointly with the Anti-Corruption Unit, a day devoted to asset declarations for members of the central bureau and of the deconcentrated structures subject to that legal formality. The initiative applies the provisions of the electoral decree of 2 June 2026, which oblige certain CEP officials and the members of the departmental and communal electoral bureaux to file asset declarations. On the occasion the CEP's Director General, Uder Antoine, recalled the requirements of article 7 of the law of 12 February 2008 on asset declaration, which bind the members and certain officials of the Council, and said the exercise contributes to strengthening transparency, good governance and accountability within the electoral administration.

ULCC representatives presented the legal framework governing asset declaration by public agents, setting out the legal, treaty and constitutional foundations of the obligation and specifying how it is to be discharged. The note is worth dating: under the June decree, salary payment for those covered is conditional on filing, so the day is the implementation of an enforceable requirement rather than a symbolic gesture.
