How many people are displaced in Haiti?

About 1.47 million people were internally displaced in Haiti in May 2026, according to IOM.

Updated 7 June 2026.

Definition and limits

The figure is the stock of internally displaced people present at the time of an IOM Displacement Tracking Matrix round. IOM builds it from key-informant assessments at site and commune level, not from a registration of individuals, so it is an estimate. The count covers only people still displaced at that round. Between rounds it moves with returns as well as with new displacement, so successive rounds do not add together. Rounds before September 2022 measured earthquake displacement. IOM's event-tracking series stopped in December 2024.
