Each event records the households and\nindividuals displaced and their host department. The events are predominantly\narmed-violence and gang attacks in and around Port-au-Prince, with a small\nnumber of flood and land-conflict events.\n\n**This is a flow, distinct from the DTM IDP stock.** The series counts people\n*newly* displaced by discrete events during a month and is summed over time.\nIt is complementary to, and must not be confused with, the internally\ndisplaced persons (IDPs) stock from the IOM DTM (the internal_displacement\nindicator), which counts IDPs present at a point in time.\n\n**Host department is the lens.** The breakdown is by host department (where\npeople were displaced TO), which is the cleaner of the two location columns in\nthe source. Displacement is heavily concentrated in Ouest (the Port-au-Prince\nmetropolitan area), with spillover to Artibonite, Centre and others.\n\n**Events are counted on a distinct event identifier.** A single event can\ndisplace people into more than one host department, so the per-department\nEVENTS count (events touching that department) does not sum to the national\nEVENTS total. INDIVIDUALS and HOUSEHOLDS are additive: the departments sum to\nthe national TOTAL. The most recent reported month is provisional, because the\nETT is a rolling tracker and late-arriving events can revise it upward.\n",

    "methodology_note": "## IOM DTM Event Tracking Tool (ETT), Haiti\n\nThe Event Tracking Tool is IOM DTM's rapid tracking of sudden displacement\nevents. Each event records the number of households and individuals displaced\nand the origin and host location (department, commune, section communale).\nIn Haiti the events are predominantly armed-violence and gang attacks in and\naround Port-au-Prince, with a small number of flood and land-conflict events.\n\n**It is a flow, complementary to the DTM IDP stock.** The ETT counts people\n*newly* displaced by discrete events during a period. This is distinct from\nthe DTM IDP stock (the internal_displacement indicator, sourced from iom_dtm),\nwhich counts IDPs *present* at a point in time. ETT flows are summed across\ntime when aggregating to quarters or years; they are not a running total and\nshould not be compared one-to-one with the IDP stock level.\n\n**Host department, not origin, is the lens.** Each row is keyed to a host\n(\"d'accueil\") department, the place people were displaced TO, and every row\ncarries a valid HT0x host pcode. The host column is materially cleaner than\nthe origin (\"de provenance\") column, so the by-department breakdown is on\nhost department. Displacement is concentrated in Ouest (the Port-au-Prince\nmetropolitan area), with spillover to Artibonite, Centre and others.\n\n**Events are counted on a distinct event identifier.** The national EVENTS\ncount for a month is the number of distinct \"ETT #\" with that displacement\nmonth. A single event can displace people into more than one host department,\nso the per-department EVENTS counts the events touching each department and\ndoes not sum to the national EVENTS total. INDIVIDUALS and HOUSEHOLDS, by\ncontrast, are additive: the departments sum to the national TOTAL.\n\n**Provenance.** Counts are passed through as observed. The most recent\nreported month is marked provisional, because the ETT is a rolling tracker\nand late-arriving events can revise the latest month upward. Non-numeric\nvalue cells (spreadsheet error strings or \"unknown\") are read as zero for the\nhousehold/individual sums.\n",

Each event records the number of households and individuals displaced\nand the origin and host location (department, commune, section communale).\nIn Haiti the events are predominantly armed-violence and gang attacks in and\naround Port-au-Prince, with a small number of flood and land-conflict events.\n\n**It is a flow, complementary to the DTM IDP stock.** The ETT counts people\n*newly* displaced by discrete events during a period. This is distinct from\nthe DTM IDP stock (the internal_displacement indicator, sourced from iom_dtm),\nwhich counts IDPs *present* at a point in time. ETT flows are summed across\ntime when aggregating to quarters or years; they are not a running total and\nshould not be compared one-to-one with the IDP stock level.\n\n**Host department, not origin, is the lens.** Each row is keyed to a host\n(\"d'accueil\") department, the place people were displaced TO, and every row\ncarries a valid HT0x host pcode. The host column is materially cleaner than\nthe origin (\"de provenance\") column, so the by-department breakdown is on\nhost department. Displacement is concentrated in Ouest (the Port-au-Prince\nmetropolitan area), with spillover to Artibonite, Centre and others.\n\n**Events are counted on a distinct event identifier.** The national EVENTS\ncount for a month is the number of distinct \"ETT #\" with that displacement\nmonth. A single event can displace people into more than one host department,\nso the per-department EVENTS counts the events touching each department and\ndoes not sum to the national EVENTS total. INDIVIDUALS and HOUSEHOLDS, by\ncontrast, are additive: the departments sum to the national TOTAL.\n\n**Provenance.** Counts are passed through as observed. The most recent\nreported month is marked provisional, because the ETT is a rolling tracker\nand late-arriving events can revise the latest month upward. Non-numeric\nvalue cells (spreadsheet error strings or \"unknown\") are read as zero for the\nhousehold/individual sums.\n",
