Civil Society Advocacy

Published title: Civil Society Advocacy in Haiti

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

Civil society has reached cross-roads in Haiti. After years of support for organizational capacity development, civic education and advocacy, new laws and policies are finally on the national agenda. This achievement will require Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to shift toward more targeted advocacy, stronger public awareness campaigns, and to monitor the development, adoption and implementation of specific legislation. USAID will continue to support proactive civil society and community organizations, along with a more capable and independent media as they increasingly apply the skills they have learned through workshops, training, and direct technical assistance provided for the past ten years. These organizations will now be supported to play an even more active role in advocating for continued governance reform, monitoring policy
