Objective
IFC expects the Project to generate positive environmental effects through supporting the Company’s energy transition to solar power systems. Beyond the Project, IFC anticipates that its financing will contribute to promoting resilience in Haiti’s food processing sector by demonstrating the feasibility of adopting renewable energy solutions.

Description
The proposed investment consists of a financing package equivalent to US$4.5 million to be provided in local currency (HTG) to Caribbean Bottling Company S.A. (“CBC” or the “Company”), a bottling company headquartered in Croix Des Bouquets, Haiti. CBC is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of: (i) water and related products; (ii) juice beverages under the brand “Frooty”; (iii) iced tea under the brand “Brizz”; and (iv) isotonic drinks under the brand “Active”. The Company employs over 500 people and commercializes its products through a well-established distribution network. The project consists of the acquisition of solar panels, a battery system, and a backup diesel generator to reduce energy costs and the carbon footprint of the Company (the “Project”).
