Description
The REKONEKTE project aims to improve the living conditions, mental health, and community cohesion for displaced men and women living in informal urban camps across the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Anchored in a multisectoral humanitarian response, the initiative combines the distribution of essential items, mobile psychosocial support, community engagement activities, and solar lighting to restore dignity, promote well-being, and strengthen resilience.Implemented in collaboration with local authorities, camp committees, the State University of Haiti, women’s groups and private partners, the project contributes to a safer, more inclusive environment for Haiti’s most vulnerable populations.In accordance with UNDP POPP, REKONEKTE will start under an Initiation Plan to enable rapid crisis response while the CO continues for resources mobilization. and will remain within the eighteen-month ceiling. It will have a results and monitoring framework, social and environmental screening under the SESP, assignment of the gender marker, and formalization of agreements with municipal authorities and technical partners through LVG procedures. The Initiation Plan will be approved by the Resident Representative, implemented by UNDP with the involvement of the Municipalities of Delmas and Pétion-Ville. Proportionate quality assurance will be applied to ensure compliance, accountability, and social and environmental sustainability throughout the Initiation Plan period.
